Amilan QS15 is a 40% glass fiber reinforced, heat-stabilized Polyamide 6 (PA6-GF40) resin manufactured by Toray Industries, Inc.. Designed for demanding structural applications, this engineering thermoplastic delivers exceptional mechanical stiffness, superior tensile and flexural strength, and high heat deflection resistance under heavy mechanical loads.
Key Features
-
High Mechanical Rigidity & Strength: Reinforced with 40% glass fiber, providing a flexural modulus of 11,638 MPa and a tensile yield strength of 207 MPa (dry condition).
-
Enhanced Heat Stabilization: Formulated with a heat-stabilized package to resist thermal aging and maintain mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.
-
Superior Thermal Resistance: Exhibits a heat deflection temperature under load of 211°C at 1.80 MPa and 219°C at 0.45 MPa (ISO 75-2).
-
Impact Performance: Delivers a Charpy notched impact strength of 17.2 kJ/m² at 23°C (dry condition).
-
Low Initial Moisture Content: Manufactured with a low base moisture content of 0.08%.

Handling & Storage Guidelines
-
Pre-Drying: Polyamide resins absorb atmospheric moisture; proper pre-drying using a desiccant dehumidifying dryer prior to injection molding is required to prevent hydrolytic degradation and splay marks.
-
Storage Conditions: Keep material in unopened original moisture-barrier bags stored in a cool, dry warehouse; protect bags from punctures and ambient humidity exposure.
-
Mold Temperature Control: Regulated mold temperatures are recommended to ensure optimal crystallization and smooth surface finish despite the high glass fiber loading.
Note: Values represent typical data under specified test conditions and are not intended for use as limiting specifications, based on the official Toray Amilan technical data sheet.
