This subject consists of 3 modules, which explore incident investigations.
- Overview of incident investigation.
- Causes and consequences of incidents.
- Reporting and investigation of workplace incidents.
Objectives of this course:
- Learn the principles applicable in understanding and differentiating between incident ‘grades’, the purpose of investigations and the obligations of the employer and employee in the event of a workplace incident.
- Able to investigate the direct and indirect causes and consequences of incidents (examined through a loss causation model) and understand the ratios between minor and major reported injury incidents in the workplace (as analysed by Frank Bird).
- Explore the four steps in the sequence of incidents, which will assist me in managing and controlling all probable or resultant losses.
- Able to interpret the reporting requirements and steps to follow when investigating incidents in the workplace.
