16 September 2026 Industry Report | Tokoplas.com

The appraisal industry report is a comprehensive summary of the PP & PE industry, consisting of market information, statistics and in-depth analysis.

Polyethylene (PE) is the most popular plastic in the world. This is the polymer that makes grocery bags, shampoo bottles, children's toys, and even bullet proof vests. For such a versatile material, it has a very simple structure, the simplest of all commercial polymers.

Comments by market players on polyethylene (PE) as follows:

Indonesian buyers adopted a cautious approach amid the prevailing polyethylene (PE) price trend. In the week commencing September 14, import offers for barefoot US LLDPE Film C4 for the October shipment are available at $1,180/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis. A plastic product end manufacturer received offers for Chinese LLDPE Film C4 at $1,360/ton with the same payment and delivery terms. A Malaysian producer has indicated no allocation for LLDPE, offering only HDPE Film, and requested buyers to submit volume requirements before releasing any offers. In the domestic market, the leading Indonesian polyolefins producer’s polyethylene (PE) price list remained unchanged compared with September 11, which is deemed high and unworkable. Likewise, local HDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4 offers from another Indonesian producer remained stable on a weekly comparison.

Demand for polyethylene (PE) in Indonesia remained weak. Some buyers made purchases last week and prefer to monitor market development for now. Meanwhile, others strictly purchase on a hand-to-mouth basis amid high prices and slow downstream demand, forcing them to reduce operating rates to 70-80%. Looking ahead, market participants are concerned that polyethylene (PE) prices may decline significantly because of weakened purchasing power. Meanwhile, demand is expected to remain subdued as the year‑end approaches. Some players opined that a recovery may only be seen next year, around June–August, in line with the traditional trend.

Polypropylene (PP) , also known as polypropene, is a thermoplastic polymer used in a wide variety of applications. It is produced via chain-growth polymerization from the monomer propylene. Polypropylene belongs to the group of polyolefins and is partially crystalline and non-polar.

Comments by market players on PP Homo Raffia as follows:

A broadly bearish polypropylene (PP) market was observed in Indonesia in the week commencing September 14. In terms of pricing, a trader reported that import PP Homo Raffia offers from Thailand have held steady from two weeks ago at an elevated level of $1,400/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis. A Vietnamese producer reported receiving inquiries from Indonesian buyers but was unable to accommodate them, citing no available allocation or offers for October shipment. In the domestic market, the leading Indonesian polyolefins producer, which had raised its local PP Homo Raffia prices multiple times last week, has announced no further changes so far this week. Meanwhile, another Indonesian producer raised its local prices significantly by IDR2,000,000/ton ($113/ton) from the level issued on September 7.

No significant demand improvement has been observed in Indonesia's polypropylene (PP) market so far this week, with end-product sales remaining sluggish. A local converter reported finished goods demand running at only 70-80% of normal levels, attributing the weakness to subdued purchasing power among end users. Polypropylene (PP) supply was described as below normal, though no major shortages were reported, consistent with the overall weakness in demand. Looking ahead, market participants expect polypropylene (PP) prices to remain elevated in the near term, underpinned by tight supply and high production costs.
