The appraisal industry report is a comprehensive summary of the PP & PE industry, consisting of market information, statistics and in-depth analysis.

Polyethylene (PE) is the most popular plastic in the world. This is the polymer that makes grocery bags, shampoo bottles, children's toys, and even bullet proof vests. For such a versatile material, it has a very simple structure, the simplest of all commercial polymers.

Comments by market players on polyethylene (PE) as follows:

In the week commencing August 17, there have been no noticeable changes in Indonesia’s polyethylene (PE) market. Fresh import offers for polyethylene (PE) cargoes remain relatively limited so far. Some Indonesian buyers appear to be less active in checking fresh offers due to ample inventories and ongoing market volatility. Moreover, Indonesian market participants have only recently returned to the market following the national holiday. For available prices, import offers for Thai HDPE Film and LLDPE Film C4 cargoes were steady on a weekly comparison. In the domestic market, the leading Indonesian polyolefins producer’s PE price list remained unchanged compared to August 11.

Following the national holiday on Monday (Independence Day), no significant changes have been observed in market activity. Overall, polyethylene (PE) demand remains subdued, as buyers are not rushing to purchase amid comfortable inventory levels from previous purchases. Moreover, sales of finished products remain unfavorable, prompting most buyers to wait and focus on consuming existing stocks. While crude oil price movements and geopolitical developments will continue to influence market sentiment, persistently weak demand could eventually place downward pressure on polyethylene (PE) offers.

Polypropylene (PP) , also known as polypropene, is a thermoplastic polymer used in a wide variety of applications. It is produced via chain-growth polymerization from the monomer propylene. Polypropylene belongs to the group of polyolefins and is partially crystalline and non-polar.

Comments by market players on PP Homo Raffia as follows:

In the week commencing August 17, the Indonesian polypropylene (PP) market experienced a quiet start after the Independence Day public holiday on Monday. On pricing, import offers from a Vietnamese producer declined by $30/ton week on week on the FOB basis to an equivalent of $1,240/ton on LC at sight, CIF Indonesia Main Port basis. No deals have been concluded so far, with buyer feedback limited as market participants just returned from the holiday. In the domestic market, the leading Indonesian polyolefins producer held its local PP Homo Raffia price list steady from August 11 levels at IDR24,830,000/ton ($1,393/ton) on 14 days credit terms, FD Indonesia basis, excluding 11% VAT. A second local producer similarly maintained its PP Homo Raffia price list unchanged from August 10 levels at IDR24,800,000/ton ($1,392/ton) on a cash, FD Indonesia basis, excluding 11% VAT. A trader noted that buyers had expressed buying ideas for domestic PP Homo Raffia at the IDR22,000,000/ton ($1,235/ton) level.

Demand in Indonesia's polypropylene (PP) market has been subdued this week. Market activity was quiet as of Tuesday, the first working day following the public holiday. A trader also noted that buyer price ideas for PP Homo Raffia continued to fall short of prevailing offer levels. Most customers have already completed their restocking activity and have no immediate need to take on additional volumes. Looking ahead, market sources expressed uncertainty over the near-term price trajectory, noting it is still too early to form a clear view, particularly given the lingering uncertainty surrounding the US-Iran conflict.
